Motorists advised to drive with care as temperatures plummet below zero

first_imgMotorists are being urged to drive with extra care as temperatures are expected to drop below zero tonight, with fog and frost appearing tomorrow morning.Donegal County Council gritters have been out since 4 this afternoon on roads throughout the county.Caution is encouraged as there may be black ice on the roads. The Council urge drivers to assume that “no road is ice-free”.Met Eireann report that “scattered showers may persist along the coast tonight but elsewhere, clearer spells will allow fog and freezing fog to develop. Lowest temperatures of 0 to minus 3 degrees with widespread frost.”For tomorrow they say; “Fog and frost at first tomorrow morning will clear then Sunday will be another cold day with good sunshine and the risk of a few light showers. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with a moderate northwest breeze.”Snow may also fall on higher ground throughout the county.
