Gearlogs Top Gadget of ces 2011

first_imgIt was a long week. Long but fulfilling, full of those sort of days where you fall asleep the moment your head hits the pillow. We walked the entire show floor once again this year, in search of the coolest, most cutting edge, and most life changing gadgets–and we saw plenty. We saw phones and laptops and music players and cameras–and so, so many tablets.Honestly, it was tough to narrow the list down to a single product in such a big show so jam-packed with awesome technology. But somehow we managed. After the jump, check out our pick for the Top Gadget of cesiSonic Electronic Cane Believe us, we were really tempted to succumb to the shininess of those tablets and 3D TVs that seemed to be everywhere this year, but instead we opted for a piece of technology that could really change some lives.I had the opportunity to take the iSonic for a spin on the show room floor this year, and was truly impressed. This cane for the visually impaired vibrates when it senses an obstruction in its path. The intensity for the vibrations vary, depending on how close you are to the object. The iSonic can also tell you what color an object is and how dark it is outside, via a built-in voice. The device will run $800 to $900 when it hits the market–which will hopefully be soon. In the meantime, its manufacturer is looking for a distributor in the States.AdChoices广告last_img read more
